Frequently Asked Questions

GENERAL

A discovery call is a chance for us to get to know each other and how we can work together. It’s an opportunity for us to learn more about your situation and how we can help. This is usually conducted over the phone or via Zoom.

Until you’re a client, we can’t give you any advice on your situation. We’ll talk about how we can work together and suggest a service package moving forward. The initial consultation is where we can begin to provide you with advice.

The first step is to book a discovery call. Once we’ve had a chat about how we can work together, we’ll provide you with a link to book and pay for your initial consultation.

An initial consultation is a 90 minute appointment where you are required to complete an online intake form in preparation for our meeting. The consultation can take place either in the clinic, online or at your home (if you live within 50 km from Kilmore or Tarneit, VIC).

During the initial consultation, you can:

  • Provide us with detailed information about your health history.
  • Tell us what your concerns are, and what you hope to achieve from our services.
  • Experience pelvic steaming first-hand and see how it feels for you.

During the initial consultation, we will:

  • give you advice on your situation.
  • recommend a service package suited to your needs. Steaming plans vary in steam duration, frequency and setup, and there are various packages to suit everybody.

After the initial consultation, we will create a sample pack of custom blended steaming herbs so you can steam for up to 6 sessions from the comfort of your own home. This will be posted out to you at no extra charge.

Absolutely! You will get to experience a 10 minute steaming session during your initial consultation. This is a ‘try-before-you-buy’ option so that you can experience first hand what the practice feels like.

PELVIC STEAMING

Pelvic steaming, also known as vaginal steaming, yoni steaming, womb steaming, or “v-steaming” for short, is an ancient practice that has been performed by various cultures around the world, primarily for postpartum recovery but also for reproductive and menstrual health.

It is akin to a facial steam but for the pelvic region, allowing the pelvic muscles to relax, heal and strengthen. This simple practice is a great self-care tool for any person wanting to restore or maintain their reproductive and gynaecological health.

Most people can benefit from pelvic steaming, however steaming is extremely beneficial for women:

  • Who have recently given birth (child is between 0 – 5 years)
  • In menarche, coming off birth control, in perimenopause or menopause
  • Experiencing any of the following:
    • Painful or heavy periods.
    • Irregular or missing periods.
    • Blood clots.
    • Cysts or PCOS.
    • Fibroids.
    • Endometriosis.
    • Low libido.
    • Vaginal dryness.
    • Pelvic organ prolapse.
    • Incontinence.
    • Haemorrhoids.
    • Digestive issues.
    • Scar tissue pain.
    • Painful sex.
    • Urinary tract or genital infections.

Though one can steam without a custom-made steaming seat, a steaming seat will ultimately make the process more comfortable.

Other equipment you will need are:

  • Stainless steel or enamel cast iron pot to boil the water and/or herbs in. Please DO NOT use pots made of any other materials for health reasons.
  • Medium sized tea strainer so you can reuse your herbs.
  • Few towels:
    • To place under the pot so your floor will not get damaged (if not using an electric hot plate).
    • For padding your knees if you are kneeling and not using a steaming seat.
    • For folding over the steaming seat if you are not using a donut cushion (purely for comfort).
  • Blanket to wrap around your bottom half of your body, or even full body.
  • OPTIONAL: Portable electric hot plate if you wish to keep the water warmer for longer (only needed for longer steam sessions).
  • OPTIONAL: donut cushion to place on the steaming seat (purely for comfort).

Some packages include rental of all steaming equipment for the length of the package. All steaming equipment is available for purchase also.

Yes, absolutely! Herbs provide additional therapeutic benefits, however the heat from the steam is most crucial to the practice. Steaming without herbs is recommended for people who are sensitive to certain herbs or are on certain medications that may interfere with herbs.

Essential oils are highly concentrated and too strong for the sensitive tissues in your pelvic region. We do not recommend using any essential oil, not even one drop. If you cannot use herbs, we recommend to steam with just water.

PERIOD COACHING

Period coaching is about guiding you about proper womb care so that you support your body during bleed week, which in turn sets you up for a better bleed week next month. You will be given teas and recipe ideas to support your body nutritionally during this time. Guidance on self care practices and appropriate movement will also be shared.

Period coaching is included within the packages and complements pelvic steaming. If you are not menstruating (for whatever reason), the knowledge shared will focus on other lifestyle factors to aid your steaming journey.

CYCLE SYNCING

Cycle syncing is about syncing your lifestyle based on each phase of your menstrual cycle. Each phase presents a different hormonal landscape for a woman, allowing you to get in flow with your physiology and harness your strengths during each phase. For example, social events are best planned around ovulation, and brainstorming new ideas is best done just after your bleed week.

You will be given guidance around nutrition, exercise, tasks and self care practices for each phase of your cycle. Cycle syncing is a simple way to allow yourself to be guided by your body’s innate wisdom instead of fighting it. When life happens and you need to perform tasks not aligned with your phase, you will know that you need extra time and rest to rejuvenate.

For ladies who are not menstruating (for whatever reason), cycle syncing is still beneficial as we can tap into the lunar cycle instead. Each phase of the menstrual cycle can be related to a lunar phase. For example, a full moon corresponds to ovulation or a new moon to menstruation.
