With each pregnancy and birth, a woman realises how little time she has for herself. So start carving out pockets of time while you can. It is a skill you can utilise later once bub arrives.
Birth prep related self care will be covered next week. For now, here’s some ways you can start making time for yourself while pregnant.
A balanced, pelvis and spine is important to allow free movement for your baby and minimise low back and hip pain. It is also beneficial during the birth process. Dr. Fiona Anderson from @kilmorefamilychiropractic is fantastic and can support you pre and post birth.
Reflexology is a divine practice! For those swollen ankles and lower legs, a gentle and caring touch goes a long way. Vanessa Caroli is trained in prenatal reflexology and can massage your feet or head! Find her at @betterhealthmyotherapy in Kilmore or at @retreatdayspa_hj in Heathcote Junction.
Myotherapy puts other pregnancy massages to shame! Thankfully the girls at @betterhealthmyotherapy are trained in prenatal care and you won’t be disappointed!
Journalling – a practice that costs nothing, but is so rewarding. Research shows that putting pen to paper has some amazing therapeutic benefits. So get the diary out, or any old piece of paper will do too. It’s the process that matters.
Prenatal yoga – make sure you follow someone who is specifically trained in prenatal yoga, and makes adjustments for this precious time. Always consult your GP before starting any new exercise regimen though.
Book a facial – as if we need an excuse! Pregnancy brings up some interesting skin issues for some women, but even if it doesn’t, book yourself in for a little pamper me time. Opt for a shorter duration if you find in uncomfortable to lie down for too long in one position.
